Adoption Services Centre offers international and domestic adoptions through our
direct programs or through collaborating agencies. Countries China, Korea,
Russia, India, Guatemala, Philippines are just a few of the countries that we
have placed children from. Children Available Healthy and children
with special needs between the ages of newborn and 16 years of age are available
for adoption. Travel Requirements Travel time may be as minimal as
four days and as long as three weeks. Some countries require one or two parents
to travel and twice. Other countries allow the children to be escorted to the
United States. Length of Process Generally international adoptions
may take between 6 and 18 months to receive a referral. Travel may occur between
4 and 6 months after referral. Waiting times may fluctuate due to country specific
holidays, the type and age of child you are willing to accept into your family,
and unforeseen country policy changes. Age and Civil Status Requirements
Prospective adoptive parents are generally required to be at least 30 years
of age. However, some countries allow adoptive parents to be 25 years of age.
An average upper age limit is 45. Countries vary in their requirements regarding
married/single status, length of marriage, number of divorces, and number of children
presently in the home. Cost As with the children available, travel requirements,
length of process, and age and civil status requirements the cost of an international
adoption varies depending on country, age of the child, number of children, and
the child’s health status. Generally, the cost of an adoption is between $12,000
and $30,000. This fee includes home study fees, foreign source fees, post placement
fees, travel expenses, and attorney fees. Each country has its unique eligibility
